A Journey of Growth
[alert-note]The idea of UWHS was born In the 2010, when the Sacco Board members observed that the Sacco had grown successfully and felt that Sacco members should start owning land. During one of their meetings in the year 2010, it was suggested that a Sub-Committee be formed to spearhead the formation of a Housing Society. The Sub- Committee was then formed, lead by the then Sacco Executive.[/alert-note]
During the year 2011, the Committee drafted By Laws guided by an official from the Ministry. The drafted By Law was approved by the full Board and later by the Co-operative (Ministry).
The mission was/is to provide affordable Housing and Wealth Creation opportunities for its members through Prudent Investment of resources. The Society has since grown in membership with a current membership of 1850 members, one of the reasons that led to the society being named the Best Housing Co-operative.

On the Kajiado Project, the land continues to appreciate in value and its expected to give high return from it in future. The Kinanie project – 10 Acres of land within the new frontier of the proposed bypass linking Mombasa Road and Kangundo Road from Joska-Athi River. It is next to the upcoming 500 Acres EPZ Leather City that is ongoing and under construction. The Society intends to build a major Housing estate to cater for the housing needs for the biggest Africa leather city once complete. The prices of land are escalating each day on that area Umoja K116 – with the increasing demand for office space, the Society’s Board saw it wise to get a Plot of its own that it shall develop into a modern storey office block.

For in instance, the Koma project has been ongoing for the past 3 years and it continues to yield more value, as the development of infrastructure in the area adds more value to the investment. The Board did set aside 30 Plots for development of houses for sale, both Bungalows and Apartments who’s ROI is projected to be high. A Show house is already complete on site and the response has been good.
Malaa
